Paul, great take on Mr. Brubeck. What I feel Brubeck's genius was was to take those esoteric time signatures and make them enjoyable to the masses. One of my favorite memories was putting Time Out on my parents stereo console and try to play along with Joe Morello on Take Five and screwing up royally because my 4/4 brain couldn't figure out what was really going on. I had to stop playing and really listen to what was happening. A life changing moment for me. RIP Mr. Brubeck.

I cannot stand jazz and when my wife puts on Brubeck, I bob my head and dig it completely. That is a gift indeed to arrange jazz in such a way that I enjoy it. True genius. Rest easy Mr. Dave.
